Polkadot Co-Founder Gavin Wood Leaves Parity CEO Role

PolkadotNovember 08, 2022

Gavin Wood, a co-founder of Polkadot, has resigned from his role as CEO of Parity, the organization in charge of Polkadot development. Polkadot launched in 2020, dubbed as an Ethereum competitor, attempting to solve the blockchain trilemma with a blockchain of blockchains. This so-called parachain model allows applications to build their own customized blockchains that inherit the security of the main-chain Polkadot.
Wood remarked that “I can act at being a CEO well enough for a short while, but it’s not where I’m going to find eternal happiness. Wood will focus on “making Polkadot and Web3 more relevant to large swathes of the population” by “helping the community design and build several interesting chain-integrated social primitives which I think are crucial for us to deliver a true Web3 platform.”
While it is certainly not a death blow with the co-founder bowing out to a developer focused position, it is interesting nonetheless. Woods's resignation comes after swathes of resignations in mostly the Centralized part of the cryptoworld.
